Saltwood is a small paddle company based in Portland, Oregon. We build gear that we ourselves design and use. Our influences are broad and varied; we paddle on the sea, on rivers and creeks, tidal rapids, flatwater swamps, and marshes. We use long boats, short boats, canoes, or whatever we can get our hands on. Simply put, we love to go boating.

We believe the best designs and equipment evolve out of the communities that use their gear the hardest. Saltwood paddles are a direct result of our personal experiences and preferences as well as feedback from a wonderful community of paddlers, both pro and novice, who have helped us along the way. To this community, we owe a huge debt of gratitude. We believe now, as we did when we first started paddling, that there is not much better than a great session boating with your buds, keeping your eyes tuned to the horizon, and having the skills and the gear to do the job right.

Richard runs the shop in Portland and takes advantage of the amazing paddling opportunities the Pacific Northwest has to offer year round. Mike is based in Savannah, Georgia, where the warm water and oysters are plentiful.
